Selection Panel & Process for Paint Out Norwich 2014

Applications Closed

Applications for the inaugural Paint Out Norwich 2014 competition closed at midnight on 1 September. The “overwhelmingly positive response from artists near and far” has meant hard work for the selection panel.

Selection Panel & Process

Between September 1 and 21 the submitted artists are being scrutinised by our panel of experts including Will Buckley, James Colman, Rev Dr Peter Doll, Mike King, and Stephanie Sinclair, in order to select not only the best, but a varied range of styles to make for an interesting and exciting competition that will appeal to both artists and appreciators of art.

Competing Artists to be Announced

Paint Out Norwich will announce the final cut of artists from among the nearly 60 who entered in the week beginning 22 September after what will no doubt be an arduous selection task.

Over 55 Plein Air Artists await the selection panel cut to 25 participants

Submissions Deadline Closes with nearly 60 Artists wanting to participate

September 1 saw the deadline for 2014’s inaugural Paint Out Norwich en plein air art competition close with some 55+ submissions. The whittling down process to a broad range of styles and experience now takes place to select the 25 who will participate during the 22-23rd October “Paint Out” event.

The Selection Panel

The hard task of choosing the competing artists is the job of selection panel members: Will Buckley, James Colman, Rev Dr Peter Doll, Mike King, and Stephanie Sinclair.

They have to view around 5 pictures from each of the 55+ entrants, that’s 250-275 paintings and 55 biographical summaries to narrow down to the final competitors.

Selected participants will be notified during the week beginning 15th of September.

Paint Out Norwich 2014 Painting Competition – Artists Applications Closed

Applications Closed

Applications for the inaugural Paint Out Norwich 2014 competition closed at midnight on 1 September.

We had an overwhelmingly positive response from artists near and far. Some 60 applications, about 60% from the broader East Anglia region and others from the rest of the UK and Europe, were received. International interest from farther afield, such as the United States, was also received and as the competition grows in future years we expect further artists to apply and expand the reach of the vision.

We now await the headaches and heartaches of the selection process by the panel of experts including Will Buckley, Rachel Campbell-Johnston, James Colman, Rev Dr Peter Doll, Mike King, and Stephanie Sinclair. Good luck to one and all!

The final artists are due to be announced on or about 22 September.
