Optional Painting Sessions
These additional free afternoon art sessions are first-come first-served to PON2018 event artists only and have limited capacity so please let us know your order of preference to take part in one or all of them (use the form field arrows or type in a number from 1-3 to express your event order of preference and/or leave blank if not available or interested):
- Saturday 13th – Historic (closing down) Colman’s factory site – prize from Unilever
- Monday 15th – Digital tablet sketch walk (tablets supplied) – try your hand at being David Hockney!
- Tuesday 16th – Drawing from the Norwich Castle roof – incredible vistas across the city
Demonstrations by Judge & Guest Artist Tony Robinson
- Sunday 14th, 2-5pm – Plein Air Painting demonstration, with Q&A
- Monday 15th, 5-6.30pm – Speed Portrait Painting demonstration
Wednesday 17th paintouts
- Wednesday morning – Painting up at the SCVA site (transport provided)
- Wednesday afternoon – Painting by the Whitlingham Country Park (transport provided)
Sunday 21st October artists & public paintout
If you haven’t let us know that you’re coming to the public paint out please do so. You’ll be joined by non-competition artists around Norwich Cathedral. We are meeting outside the Norwich School Crypt/Upper Green opposite the Hostry entrance. See it as an opportunity to promote the Exhibition mid-way through and draw people in to buy your artworks.
Talks & Workshops
The following PON2018 talks and workshops can be booked independently through Eventbrite (plus booking fee). There is a £5 rebate for event artists attending the talks.
- Monday 15/10 7pm, Prof Paul Greenhalgh, SCVA, talk on The Rise of Plein Air Painting, £5 to PON artists via rebate (RRP £10 otherwise)
- Tuesday 16/10 6pm, Dr Georgia Bottinelli, Castle Museum & Gallery, talk on John Sell Cotman in Norwich & London, £5 to PON artists (RRP £10 otherwise)
- Wednesday 17/10, 2-5pm, Oil Painting – Understanding Tonal Perspective with Nial Adams, £25
- Monday 22/10, 1-4pm, An introduction to Reportage Illustration with Owen Mathers, £15
- Wednesday 24/10, 10-1pm, Watercolour Painting Workshop with Richard Bond, £20
- Friday 26/10, 10-1pm, Practical Colour Theory with Martin Laurance, £25
